Caramel Apple Kiss Blondies

I recently visited Dinner & Dessert’s blog and was inspired by how she swirled pumpkin spice hershey kisses into her batch of brownies. Then, I remembered seeing caramel apple hershey kisses at the grocery store, and I thought the caramel apple flavor would be perfect in a blondie. They were!!

The kisses are really delicious in themselves and if you just eat one of the kisses, it’s only 1 gram of fat. They are chocolate on the outside and caramel apple in the middle. I was really suprised at how amazingly good they were just by themselves!

Everyone on The Nest raves about Baking Blonde’s Blondies, so I thought I would use her basic blondie recipe and add in the kisses, some apple pie spice, and cinnamon. Her recipe with my additions are below. These blondies were so delciously rich and gooey. They had the perfect amount of apple and cinnamon, and the flavors blended so smoothly with the texture of the blondie. By the way, I just had a small one so I could let you know how they came out. So I wasn’t breaking my diet too bad!:)

Basic Blondies

Ingredients:
6-7 TBS butter, melted (I used light margarine)
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp baking powder

“Add ins”:
1 tsp. apple pie spice
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
45 caramel apple hershey kisses (this is less than one bag)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Line an 8×8 pan with foil and lightly spray with PAM.
In a large microwave safe mixing bowl melt the butter. Allow to cool for 5 mintues. Mix the brown sugar with the melted butter and beat until smooth. Beat in egg and then vanilla.
Add salt, slowly mix in flour and baking powder until incorporated.
Mix in apple pie spice and cinnamon.
Pour into prepared pan and use a greased spatula to evenly spread mixture in pan and level the top.
Meanwhile, place the unwrapped hershey kisses in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute, stirring half way through. After one minute, stir until smooth, and drop by spoonfuls onto blondie batter. Swirl using a toothpick to create a marbeled look.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until set in the middle. Cool on rack before cutting.
