Hearty Spaghetti Sauce

in ground beef, Healthy, pasta

This is a variation on my mom’s sauce. This sauce is really hearty and has a lot of flavor. The best thing is it’s super easy, quick to throw together and easy to double for a crowd. It’s not totally from scratch, but could be adapted by subbing fresh tomatoes, tomato paste and extra seasonings for the canned sauce.
Ingredients:
1 lb. extra lean ground beef
1 26 1/2 oz. can Hunt’s Traditional Spaghetti Sauce
1 6/5 oz. can mushrooms, drained (can use fresh if desired)
1 tbsp. Italian seasonings

Directions:
Brown ground beef. Once cooked through, cover with water and drain (this allows the extra fat to rise to the top and be rinsed off of the mean, making it even healthier!). Place back into large skillet and add spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, and seasonings. Stir together, Cover and bring to boil. Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes or until heated through. Serve over your noodles of choice and top with parmesan cheese if desired.
