White Trash

Call this treat whatever you would like…puppy chow, muddy buddies, snowman poop or white trash, like we’ve always called it. It doesn’t matter what you call it, this stuff is a crowd pleaser! So deliciously good and to me it just says Christmas. That’s probably because my mom and I have also been making this delectable treat for as long as I can remember. She uses a slightly different recipe than on the Chex box (no butter), but in my opinion hers is much better. We made five batches this year, 2 1/2 batches for each of us to give away!

Ingredients:
6 oz. (or 1 heaping cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
3 cups corn chex cereal
3 cups rice chex cereal
1 cup powdered sugar

Directions:
Microwave chocolate chips for 1 minute. Stir and microwave for an additional 30 seconds. Stir in peanut butter until smooth. Meanwhile, pour the rice and corn chex into a large bowl. Pour chocolate mixture over chex cereal and stir gently until coated with the chocolate mixture. Place 1 cup powdered sugar in a 2 gallon ziploc bag, pour in chex and chocolate mixture. Seal bag securely and shake until cereal is coated with the powdered sugar. Transfer to a clean ziploc bag or airtight container. This will keep for two weeks if in airtight container. Great for gift giving or parties.
