Strawberry on Top

So I just wanted to share with you guys the latest trend I’ve been rocking! That’s right…its the single walking boot…and its all the rage.  I know you all are jealous!!;) Haha! But for reals, I had a foot injury recently and I won’t bore you with the details, but I strained or tore some ligaments in the small bones of my foot.  Something to do with the way I walk combined with the pounding of jumping in my workout classes and my utter lack of flexibility.  So the boot is my new BFF for a little while.  Last week I found myself having somewhat of a pity party over my new found friend, the boot, and the fact that I can’t workout like I normally do or take walks with Adam & Hershey.  Lets face it, I was wallowing.  Then God told me to, “Quit focusing on what you can’t do and focus on what you can do.”  So I started thinking about all God has blessed me with and how this is just a minor temporary inconvenience and it really started to lift my spirits.  I rocked some praise & worship music and my mood lifted instantly.  It really does help to put things in perspective sometimes.  This might be a minor setback, but I still have a wonderful husband, family and friends and God has blessed me so much.   I just wanted to share that in case anyone else might be feeling down about your circumstances lately.  Have any of you ever experienced an injury that kept you sidelined for a while? What did you do to stay positive? Also, if anyone has any tips on any workouts with an injured foot, I am all ears!! And just because he’s so cute, here’s a picture of Hershey to brighten your day!:)  Have a great weekend and check out some great dishes from around the blogosphere below!

  4. You poor thing!! But I love your positive attitude of this and you look fabulous with that boot! You make it look fashionable!

Last year when I got into my bike accident, totally fell off my bike while mountain biking with friends because I took a hill too fast and didn’t use the brakes. I ate it bad and I bruised my legs, my arms, legs and face were all scratched up and dinged up badly. I had a black eye, busted lip and lots of blood was shed…my ego was heavily bruised. I didn’t break a bone at all, and knew that God was looking after me. God is good. He helped me bounce back from the pain and back to my feet again…it took me awhile to ride again and all my cuts and bruises healed quickly. Sometimes all you need is time to heal the wounds. 😉

    • Thanks Krystal!! I hate that happened to you! Sounds like an awful accident! I am so glad you are okay and God was definitely looking out for you!!

  5. Hope you feel better soon! Getting injured sucks! I had some ankle problems a few years ago and it was so frustrating! Hang in there!

  6. Hi 🙂 I am a recent follower of your blog. I am loving all the recipes! It was a nice surprise to see that you are a Christ follower! I am really sorry about the reasoning you hurt your foot! I would not be able to imagine the pain of having to walk around in it. Glad to see you are doing much better!! It was also very encouraging to see your attitude in all of this and putting things into perspective. It is is hard at times, but necessary to remember all that we have and how blessed we truly are!!
This last summer I too had an accident. I got into a bicycle accident and flipped over my handle bars. I put out my hands into front of me to brace myself so I didn’t hit my head, but when I did there was so much pressure from me falling forward that I broke both my elbows! I have 3 children under the age of 5. So that doesn’t work well. Haha!! I couldn’t do my own hair, take a shower, drive myself, feed myself, cook food or lift or change any children, nothing. I had to put my 2 youngest into daycare for 3 weeks! That was the hardest thing to not see my babies for 3 weeks and to sit at home and basically do nothing. So I know the pity party thing well. Haha!! But God loves to use us in our weakest moments to birth new things in us. New appreciation or things we have taken for granted. Like elbows. Haha! Who knew that we used them so much! I am still recovering!
So that was a really long response… sorry! But I really appreciated what you said and your encouragement. Thank you!!
