Strawberry on Top: Nashville Eats & Color Run

Last month, Adam & I got to travel to Nashville to participate in the Color Run 5K.  We were only in Nashville less than 24 hours, but we made the most of it, visiting some fun foodie places while we were there.  The above picture is before the race, scroll down below for the after.  Here are the fun Nashville eats that we enjoyed!

We started out with lunch at Burger Up, which was a small but great little spot.  You actually sat at the table with people you don’t know, but the way the seating is, I didn’t feel uncomfortable about that in the least.  We started out with fried pickles and they were the perfect little salty bite dipped in ranch dressing.  Adam got the Triple L Classic and I got the Woodstock.  Both of our burgers were really fantastic, but the woodstock edged out. It had a smoky steak flavor and the bacon added such nice texture and flavor.  I got the truffle fries, which were good but had a little too much of the truffle and it overpowered the fries.  Next time, I would just get the regular fries because I loved the texture.

After lunch, we popped next door to Las Paletas for Gourmet Popsicles.  Adam had the Creamy Vanilla & Chocolate Chip and I got the Honeydew.  Both were amazing! Adam’s was more like ice cream and was so soft and creamy.  The honeydew was sweet and so refreshing. Oh, and My popsicle in the picture is the chocolate & chili. It was too spicy for me so I went back in and got the Honeydew:)

For dinner, we headed to Mafioza’s for some pizza.  We did half and half on the toppings, with half the pizza more traditional toppings and half we got non-traditional.  We both agreed we enjoyed the traditional toppings better and the crust was wonderful! Perfectly crisp, yet soft and chewy at the same time.

I’ve talked about this place before, but it’s worth mentioning again.  We got mini bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes and brought them back to the hotel to enjoy after dinner.  We got the red velvet and then the white chocolate.  Both were AMAZING!! Such a moist cake and not too heavy. The perfect frosting to cake ratio and it was just fabulous! Some of the best cake I’ve ever had. And the best part is they have locations across the country!

The Color Run on Sunday was AWESOME! You start out dressed in white and then are all colorful at the end. So fun! And I love that you can walk or run and there is no time limit.  We ran a good amount and walked a few times.  There were four different color stations and at the color stations they threw colored powder on you.  We went through some of the stations twice to get more color.  After the race, every fifteen minutes they have a color throw party. They pump up fun dance music and they count it down and then everyone shakes their color packet out all at the same time, and after that you are completely covered head to toe in color.  It was such a blast and I highly recommend it! The only thing that wasn’t the best is the photo booth station wasn’t clearly marked and we had to walk around for a good little bit to find where to get our pictures taken.  Other than that, it was great! And so fun to run through downtown Nashville.
