Washington D.C. Eats

If you follow me on social media, then you know that Adam & I just took a trip to Washington D.C. We had a fabulous time! It’s such a wonderful city with lots of delicious food! I was going to also post about all our adventures and the attractions, but this post would’ve been way too long! Look for that post coming soon! We had an amazing time eating our way through D.C.! We didn’t go to any fancy dinners because we stayed outside the city and it would’ve been hard to get back to our hotel to freshen up. Looking forward to going back soon and enjoying some of the fancier fare!

DC Friday Eats

We kicked off our trip Thursday night with Chipotle! What better way to start it out?! Then Friday we took the train into the city and visited the Capitol South area, which has lots of great restaurants. We had lunch at District Taco, which was so fresh and flavorful! The guacamole was amazing and you definitely have to get the steak tacos! Sooo good!!! After lunch we walked over and got cupcakes to take back to our hotel from The Sweet Lobby.  We got the Boston cream & the cookies and cream, both were great.  The cake had a great moist crumb and the icing was silky smooth. Friday night we ate at the Shake Shack at the Nationals game (not pictured) and even though we waited in line for 30 minutes, it was completely worth it! Soft bun with a perfect burger and crinkle fries.

Wicked Waffle

Saturday we happened upon Wicked Waffle as we were walking from monument to monument. We got our our maps app and asked it to find breakfast places. This one came up and we weren’t far from it.  What a great find! We got one savory (bacon, egg & cheese) and one sweet (nutella) and split them.  The interesting thing about these waffles was that they used no butter or syrup on top. The waffles were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and had a sweet buttery flavor cooked in the batter so you didn’t need the syrup! We loved both the sweet & the savory and would definitely go back here!

Good Stuff Eatery

Lunch was back to the Capitol South area to visit Good Stuff Eatery.  This is Spike Mendelsohn’s restaurant of Top Chef fame.  The burger was really juicy and flavorful with a nice soft bun. The fries were super crispy and I loved the seasoning on them. They also had several different dipping sauces to try, which was fun. We loved both the mango & the siracha sauces.  I loved the atmosphere too, so fun and playful. We got milkshakes afterwards, the famed toasted marshmallow and a red velvet. They both had great flavor but were a bit rich for us.  These were the mini shakes if you can believe that! Dinner was at a pizza place that we didn’t love, so I’ll spare you that one.

Sunday DC Eats

Sunday we went to the Eastern Market and had breakfast at the Market Lunch counter. Definitely worth the trek there! Incredible chocolate chip pancakes. So fluffy and just the right amount of chocolate chips! And the bacon, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich was out of this world! Thick cut bacon and the softness of the roll made this incredible! For lunch we headed over to Dupont Circle for some pizza at Pizzeria Paradiso. It was really good but need a bit more sauce for this sauce loving girl. The crust & toppings were so good though! Then we walked just around the corner to Hello Cupcake! The strawberry cupcake was bursting with fresh flavor.  The cake was very moist and the icing was really good. Adam liked these better than Sweet Lobby’s but I preferred Sweet Lobby’s just slightly over these because of the frosting. Lots of deliciousness packed into three days!!
