Strawberry on Top: Sophie’s 1st Birthday

Sophie just celebrated her 1st birthday! Well it was actually a month ago, but I’m a little behind on updating you all! We had such a fun day on her birthday! The forecast was for lots and lots of rain, but thankfully God parted the skies and blessed us with a gorgeous fall day! We held her party at a local park at a pavilion and it was the perfect location! The pavilion was right beside a playground so we could eat and then the kids could all go and play.

I did an “Up, Up, and Away” theme for her party and it turned out even better than I imagined! I also went with a rainbow color scheme since that’s what I did her nursery in. One of my good friends decorated her cake and it was so cute!! I decorated with lots of balloons and printed a couple of signs that I designed (on pic monkey) which made decorating really easy. I found some cute chevron rainbow plates/cups/napkins at Walmart and they went great. I had so much fun planning everything!

The most fun of course was seeing Sophie enjoy everything! She absolutely LOVES cake!! We woke her up the morning of her birthday by greeting her with balloons in her crib which she loved and gave her a breakfast muffin. Her party was in the morning (10:30-12:30) since that’s her best time of day so we served chicken salad sandwiches & turkey/cheese on hawaiian rolls. We also had fruit, chips and cake of course! And I added rainbow twizzlers for some color and they ended up being a big hit!

I made a board of all her monthly pictures from the 1st year and even though those were difficult to take, especially once she got mobile, I’m so glad I did! It was so neat to see how much she’s grown and changed! I also made a little banner that went around her booster seat. I had the “Sophie” poster above made from Etsy and I was so thrilled with how it turned out! We are going to hang it in her room.

After her party, we went home to open presents from the grandparents (we asked party guests not to bring presents) & us (she got the Minnie car which she loves) and then we went to the park. Sophie loves to swing so we wanted to do some of her favorite things. We also took her to eat her first pizza at our favorite local spot and she loved it! That night we also tried to watch Sleeping Beauty but she only watched about 15 minutes haha. Such a fun 1st birthday!! So thankful for this gift God has given us! She is such a joy in our lives!!
