Mouthwatering Apple Crisp

Recently my best friend made an amazing apple crisp and I couldn’t get enough of it. I begged her for the recipe and she kindly sent it to me. This past weekend we went to a farmer’s market and got several apples so I knew it was the perfect thing to make with them! This Mouthwatering Apple Crisp is exactly that, so heavenly and will keep you going back for just one more bite, then another and another! You can make the full recipe below in either two 9 inch round baking dishes or 1 large 2 quart baking dish. Or you can halve the recipe and just make one 9 inch round crisp. What I love about this is its perfect for fall, thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Fourth of July or any time of year!

Makes a large 2 quart crisp or two 9″ round pie dishes
(1/2 this recipe for just one 9″ pie dish)

Ingredients:
For Filling:
6 Medium sized Apples peeled & cut into wedges
1 tbsp. Lemon Juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp. all purpose flour

For Topping:
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
12 tbsp. unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks), cold and cut into cubes

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 2 quart baking dish or two 9-inch pie dishes with cooking spray, set aside.

In a large bowl, add apple wedges, Lemon juice, sugar & flour and stir to incorporate. Spread apples evenly in the bottom of prepared dish or dishes.

In a separate large bowl, add flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon  & salt. Whisk together to incorporate. Using a pastry cutter, forks or a food processor, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it comes together like clumps of wet sand.

Sprinkle flour mixture over top of apples until completely covered. Bake for approximately 45 minutes until the filling is bubbling and the top is lightly golden.

Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream if desired.
