So we just got back from a vacation to the beach and I am still trying to get back in the swing of things! I have lots of great plans for cooking & baking this weekend so hopefully some delicious recipes will be coming your way in the very near future. In the mean time I thought I would let you in on some of the gems we found on our vacation to Seacrest Beach in Florida. It’s in between Destin & Panama City and we went to eat in both of those cities a couple times. It’s such a beautiful area and you can read more about the sights on my post here from a couple of years ago. As always we frequented The Donut Hole….three times in a week to be exact!
Yes, it is that good! Not only do they have like the best donuts ever, but their entire breakfast menu is equally as delicious! I did make a new discovery this year…..they had red velvet cake donuts!!! Red velvet is my favorite kind of cake and cake donuts are my favorite kind of donut and here they were combined!! It was heavenly. Pure bliss, I tell you! The first time I got them, they topped it with a whipped butter cream and the second was a cream cheese frosting. I actually preferred the butter cream, but both were delicious. It had a nice thin coating of glaze on the outside and perfectly moist & sweet on the inside. I actually took this home and ate it as a dessert. I plan on finding a recipe to make these asap, so be on the look out for red velvet donuts soon at a blog near you!
I also got their chocolate chip pancakes twice. So rich & chocolatey & they had such a wonderful texture, perfect for soaking up the syrup. I definite homerun in my book.
They also have amazing omelets. This was the western omelet with ham, cheese, mushroom & onions.
Definitely visit the Donut Hole if you are ever in Destin or Santa Rosa….their two locations. Oh and bonus, you can purchase these awesome coffee mugs to relive your memories at home…yes I bought a pair for myself:)
