Strawberry on Top: Adam’s Birthday Adventures

Zoo

Last weekend for Adam’s Birthday we headed down for an overnight stay in Birmingham.  We had a great time! The main thing Adam wanted to do was go to the zoo (we are just kids at heart).  It wasn’t a huge zoo, but they did have some great animals and we were blessed that a lot of them were active and awake.  The tiger was pacing back and forth right in front of the glass when we got to his habitat and he even roared which was so cool! We went back later and he was sleeping, which is the picture above.  The peacock was all upset and had it’s feathers out and was shaking at these other birds trying to intimidate them but it wasn’t working too well.  The lion actually woke up for 2 seconds while we were there which in all my times at the zoo I don’t think I’ve ever seen the male lion awake so that was awesome!

The coolest part of all, was that for $3 per person we got to feed a giraffe!! They let us give it several bites and took several pictures of us with my camera.  Definitely worth $6! The giraffe was so friendly and it was just the neatest experience! What’s your favorite animal to see at the zoo?

Flip Burger

For lunch we ate at on of our favorite spots, Flip Burger Boutique, which is owned by Top Chef Richard Blais.  The burgers are out of this world! They are so tender and juicy and the buns are so soft! It’s messy to eat, but that’s the way burgers are supposed to be! I got the regular fries and Adam got the sweet potato tots and we shared and both of those were amazing! Flavored wonderfully.  And if you go, you have to get one of the liquid nitrogen frozen shakes!! I had the nutella toasted marshmallow and Adam got the Krispy Kreme.  We got them in to go cups, but I had mine mostly finished before we left the restaurant!;)
